Preserving a forgotten game

July 21, 2024

CWs: none

Back in 2020, I stumbled across a game on the Microsoft Store, called "Cimm". The game was very small and simple, I played it and shortly after just forgot about it.

Today, I was going through stuff, and stumbled across Cimm again, after 4 years. As the store page loaded, I noticed that the game was no longer available for download. It didn't show up in search results, and is unattainable without a digital license. Of course, having played it before, I had access.

I was reading the store page, and noticed a content warning: "mental health, food, animal death (non-explicit)". The description also read "A small project to explore one aspect of a personal experience."

I replayed it, finding 3 endings, but I don't think I found out what the personal experience was. I also had this feeling that I want to preserve it, if I can.

So, I looked up where MS Store apps are stored, gave myself access, and found out the game is actually just HTML and JavaScript.

I uploaded it to Cloudflare, and here it is!

I don't know, I just like preserving things, even the most random stuff. if only i could write about these things better... hmm

ps. i cannot find the developer "LITM SOFTWARE" anywhere else than some razor game deals page for another game they made that's not even available for download :(

pps. if i have the chance to stop something from possibly becoming lost media im takin it!!
